A soldier rescues two children during a skirmish in Vietnam

During the Vietnam War American soldiers weren’t just tasked with fighting the Viet Cong, they were also expected to take care of the South Vietnamese and make sure their children were safe. This wasn’t an easy task, especially when the Viet Cong could and did attack at any time. Regardless of which side of the war the children were born into, they didn’t have a say in the fighting and didn’t have any place in the battles. Soldiers did whatever they could to take care of children caught in the middle of a fire fight, unfortunately not every child survived the war.
