Other proposals that provide services for residents in MassHousing-financed rental housing, specifically those that address alcohol and/or drug abuse or addiction, are also considered for funding. CCRI grant recipients must be 501c3 non-profit organizations and matching funds must be provided. All proposals and applicant qualifications are stringently reviewed and vetted by MassHousing. BOSTON – March 22, 2022 – MassHousing has awarded a total of $245,845 in grant funding to create 22 new affordable sober housing units and preserve and additional 45 sober homes for men, women, and families in five communities. Brian Murphy is the owner and operator of Recovery Upfront, a men’s sober home in Weymouth established in 2007. He also previously co-owned and operated two male sober homes in Quincy, and he is currently the owner and operator of BFM Painters and Home Renovators, a commercial and residential paint contracting business in Quincy.

A contract was awarded to the Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing (MASH) to be the certifying body, and the training and technical assistance vendor. Steppingstone, Inc., New Bedford, $37,000Grant funding will support renovations for seven sober housing units for women and children in New Bedford. Dismas House of Massachusetts, Inc., Worcester, $25,000 Grant funds will help support the creation of three fellowship positions for live-in, supportive staff at Dismas Family Farm, a sober housing campus and working farm in Oakham. Housing Support, Inc., Newburyport, $75,000 MassHousing grant funds will help create eight new, fully accessible housing units for men and women, on an existing sober housing campus in Amesbury. 27.d Documentation that residents are formally linked with the community such as job search, education, family services, health and/or housing programs.
